Description

Product Introduction

Corrosion-conscious gabion, mattress, and toe-protection packages for shorelines, tidal channels, coastal revetments, outfalls, and waterfront infrastructure.

Product Introduction

Zhongman marine gabion shoreline systems combine gabion toe structures, Reno mattress revetments, and transition units to protect eroding banks and waterfront assets. The stone-filled mesh layer resists wave and current action while remaining permeable and able to follow moderate foundation movement. Connected baskets retain armour stone that could otherwise be displaced individually, and a filtered foundation limits loss of fine subsoil. Marine exposure is demanding: salt, wet-dry cycling, abrasion, UV, debris, and biological growth all affect durability. For that reason, the system is configured to the site rather than sold as a universal coastal basket. Wire coating, diameter, mesh, rock, edge details, and inspection access must match the hydraulic and environmental conditions.

Shoreline and Coastal Benefits

A rough, porous revetment dissipates energy and reduces reflection compared with a smooth vertical face. Flexible mattresses can protect broad slopes, while thicker gabions form toes, berms, headwalls, and transitions around structures. If local settlement occurs, the connected mesh can maintain stone coverage better than a rigid panel, provided the toe and edges are secure. Local quarry stone may reduce transport and embodied impact, and vegetation can establish in sheltered upper zones where the project allows it. Marine gabions are not suitable for every exposure; high wave energy, moving shingle, ice, vessel impact, or severe abrasion may require heavier armour, special details, or a different system. Zhongman supplies to the approved coastal design.

Materials and Custom Configuration

Marine packages use project-selected Zn-Al alloy wire and, where specified, an additional polymer coating chosen for saline water, UV, temperature, and abrasion. Wire diameter, mesh opening, mattress thickness, basket size, diaphragm spacing, lacing, and rock grading are coordinated. Components may include buried toe units, launching aprons, slope mattresses, crest anchorage, edge cutoffs, structure interfaces, and geotextile. Prefilled or liftable options can be evaluated where tidal windows or underwater placement limit conventional filling. Quotation inputs should include salinity, tidal range, design waves and currents, seabed or bank soil, armour-stone source, slope, predicted scour, installation access, required standard, and desired documentation.

Installation and Lifecycle

Bed and slope preparation, filter continuity, toe embedment, edge restraint, and strong connections between units determine whether the revetment remains intact. Stone should be hard, durable, appropriately graded, and placed without damaging the coating. In tidal work, the construction sequence must prevent partially completed panels from being exposed to design conditions. After installation, inspections should focus on toe scour, edge undermining, broken or abraded wire, lid movement, settlement, voids, vandalism, and damage from debris or vessels. Accessible local repairs and planned monitoring are important parts of lifecycle performance. The project designer should define inspection frequency and acceptance limits based on exposure and consequences.

Why Choose Zhongman

Zhongman produces gabions, mattresses, lacing, bracing, and compatible coated-wire components for coordinated marine packages. We review bills of quantities and drawings for consistency between mesh, coating, unit size, accessories, and installation sequence. Bundles can be marked by shoreline chainage or structure and packed for container, barge, or local prefilling logistics. Material documentation and trial samples are available for technical review. Send the coastal design basis and drawings for a project-specific quotation; our proposal will identify the requested material configuration and any information still needed before production.
